Press Release 04/21/2022 KAMS Charity Organized A Global Virtual Classical Fusion Event “TANSEN†on Sunday April 10th to promote Hindustani Classical Music KAMS Charity is a non-profit Organization (501c3) in USA, organized a Global Virtual Classical Fusion event, “TANSENâ€, a Jugalbadi to promote Hindustani Classical Music in an international platform where music lovers from 25+ countries and from many states in the USA joined to witness this historic event. The mission of KAMS Charity continues to empower underserved and underprivileged artists around the world and this time it was no different. The event started at Indian time 8 PM (USA Eastern 10.30 AM) where the international and domestic audiences joined KAMS Charity Zoom and Facebook live and witnessed the blissful event TANSEN from 113 Signature Studio, Bhubaneswar. Smt Aparajitta Swain, Founder of KAMS Charity started the program by welcoming the guests and discussed the significance about the production concept of TANSEN. During mid 1500’s, TANSEN popularized Hindustani Sastriya Sangeet. TANSEN who was a composer, musician and vocalist began his career and spent most of his adult life in the court and patronage of the Hindu king of Rewa, Raja Ramchandra Singh (r.1555–1592), where TANSEN'S musical abilities and studies gained widespread fame. This reputation brought him to the attention of the Mughal Emperor Akbar. His renditions of ragas, a musical form intended to invoke emotion or nature (rain or fire), were said to tame animals and turn day into night, while his voice could replicate the roar of a lion or the chirp of a bird. There was a short movie on TANSEN played in the beginning after which Yaman Kalyan Raag started by the Classical artists Guru Dr Riktarag Patra and Guru Dr Anurag Patra with Paramparik Alap. Both Guru’s Then Yaman Raag based popular Bollywood songs were performed starting with popular ghazal “Ranjish Hi Sahiâ€. Bhimpalasi Raag was presented right after Yaman followed by a string of Bhimpalasi Raag based popular songs starting with “Naino main Badra Chhayeâ€. During the interval, there was an instrumental mashup (TANSEN Instrumental Blues) played and composed by Sri Piku Rath in keyboard with several Indian folk tunes supported by multi talented Guitar/Mandolin artist Sri Bhabatosh Mohanty, Sri Nikunja Bihari Samal in Tabla and Sri Alok Prusty on Digital drums/Octopad. The creativity with the instrumental section was most appreciated by all the audiences. The event continued with Raag “Khamaj†Alap followed by popular Bollywood songs. With audiences requests, the artists performed beautiful Classical Odia songs composed by famous composer, Pandit Dr Pradeep Patra. The last section of the event was a mashup of Bollywood songs based on Raag Malkosh, Bhupali, Kirwani. Finale was a tribute to the legendry Musician TANSEN with Mian Malhar Raag and a song based on this Raag “Badal Ghumad Badh Aayeâ€. The accompanists did an amazing job supporting the artists. Sri Gulshan Nadeem was the anchor person for the event who explained the Raga beautifully before the start of each section. Gulshan ji received so many positive comments from the international audiences in Facebook and Zoom regarding his anchoring skills. At the end, many audiences gave several positive feedbacks to organizers and the artists requesting to continue promoting Hindustani Sastriya Sangeet in this platform and to provide opportunities to the underserved and underprivileged artists. Thank you note was given by the Founder of KAMS Charity who thanked all the performing artists. Mrs. Swain mentioned “This historic event is a humble effort working together with our Global KAMS Charity families, volunteers and Kindness Ambassadors from 25 plus countries to promote our very own culture at an international level and mentioned “We will continue to make efforts to encourage/promote under-served and under privileged artistsâ€. Mrs. Swain thanked Odisha Society of Americas (OSA) Secretary Mr. Pramod Mahapatra who has been supporting KAMS Charity organization from its inception. Mrs. Swain thanked the volunteers who made this event successful - Mrs. Ritanjali Patnaik, Mrs. Sangeeta Tripathy, Mr. Malay Biswal, Mr. Samarendra Mishra, Mr. Suresh Balachandran, Playback artist Smt. Sasmita Biswal, Playback artist Sri Sangram Mohanty and Sri Sanjeeb Swain. Mrs. Swain appreciated the support from all the donors and electronic media partners.
