A Tale of four Diwalis
Once upon a time there was a tiny group of dedicated desi families in the then remote suburbs around Worcester who used to get together for a potluck dinner and puja at Diwali. Now fast forward to the present and that legacy lives on with the India Society of Worcester (ISW) celebrating Diwali in the community with not one but four Diwali celebrations.
The first celebration will be a glamorous event at the Worcester Art Museum on November 7th that will include a full day of Indian dance, music, food, and art hosted in partnership with ISW! It is free to the public and you can view the complete schedule of performances at:

Later that day, ISW will hold the first Diwali Puja in its newly renovated India Center with bhajans and prasad followed by dinner on November 7th. The event is open to ISW members and requires registration. You can join or register at the ISW website at:

The theme for this year’s annual ISW Diwali Cultural program on November 13th is “Deep se Deep Jale, Dil se Dil Mile†and it will be streamed online on Facebook at
www.facebook.com/iswonline It promises to be an enthralling entertaining event.
Finally, for the very first time, ISW will be partnering with the Tower Hill Botanic Garden in Boylston to host Diwali Lights at the Tower Hill on November 20th. Wander through the gardens remembering Diwali as it was celebrated in India with hundreds of lights illuminating the gardens. Soak up the festive atmosphere and enjoy a wonderful evening with delicious Indian food, shopping at a bazaar, henna and more. Check the ISW website for a special discount on admission at
