Press Release 05/20/2021 IANH Donates $60,000 for Oxygen Concentrators for India After India Association of New Hampshire (IANH) launched the IANH Covid India Relief Fund on Tuesday April 27, donations started pouring in from Granite Staters and Indian American community. We have exceeded all fundraising expectations given the serious situation in India. Our goal was to raise at least $25,000 within the first two weeks. Thanks to the generosity of the donors, we surpassed the goal raising more than $50,000 for Covid Relief in India in the first two weeks. Combined with $10,000 pledged by IANH, the funds raised already total more than $60,000. Given the shortage of oxygen in India, we decided that the best way to help alleviate the covid crisis in India was to send oxygen concentrators to India. We identified two organizations with the best track record and supply chains in place to send concentrators to India - Sewa International and Together for India Campaign. Sewa International is headquartered in Houston with a chapter in Boston. They have so far procured 7,482 oxygen concentrators, 250 ventilators, 256 co-ventilators and other much needed medical equipment and have shipped most of them to India via UPS over the past three weeks. Together for India Campaign is based in Boston and spearheaded by Gitika Srivastava of Navya Networks. They have procured 5,316 oxygen concentrators and have already distributed most of them to government and charitable hospitals in various states of India. As the situation in India called for immediate action, IANH invited Sewa International and Together for India Campaigns and delivered checks for $30,000 each last Tuesday May 11. A group picture from the event can be seen at the bottom of this report. Sewa International was represented by Raju Datla, President of the Boston chapter. He said that besides sending oxygen concentrators, Sewa International was planning to set up make-shift hospitals in India to alleviate the shortage of hospital beds. Together for India Campaign was represented by Pradip Srivastava. He said that their team was working day and night on the campaign to send oxygen concentrators to India. This was an outdoors event that was held outside the Kumon Center in Nashua. WMUR TV covered the event. The newscast by WMUR TV on the event can be seen at the following link: https://www.wmur.com/article/fundraising-efforts-india-association-new-hampshire/36401901 Covid 19 continues to ravage urban and rural areas of India and there is no letup in the shortage of oxygen and essential supplies in India. We have, therefore, decided to continue our fundraising efforts until this shortage is eliminated. Towards this end, we have raised our fundraising goal to $100,000 by the end of this month.
