IARI’s SHADES OF HOLI- A
CELEBRATION OF COMMUNITY AND COLLABORATION India Association of Rhode Island celebrated Virtual SHADES
OF HOLI “An Arts Festival Celebrating Diverse Cultural Artists†on 14th
March, 2021. The event showcased ~200participants with 26 Master Artists
across all age groups, making it IARI’s biggest & most diverse virtual
celebration†according to the Secretary Ms. Smriti Gupta The event was an extraordinary cultural Journey that started
with opening prayer by Art of Living, Boston. IARI’s First Arts Festival
presented reverberating Music Ensembles across all age groups. The curtain
raiser performance- “Harmony†was an adult musical band where master artists
from diverse Indian & non-Indian organizations played together. Vocals
& Composition was managed by Dhruvit Shah, Amit Kavthekar (NESOM)
contributed on Tabla & Rohan Chander played the keyboard who also Produced
& directed this piece. 7yr.olds playing the foot tapping “Humma†under the
supervision of master artist Mr. Daniel Jebaraj from KutKut studios, took the
audience with surprise. Event was curated into 5 segments, presented by 4
emcees and comprised of dances, story narratives, poetry & a musical. Past President’s
narrative, Pre-show & poetry by “Eligible for Best Pic Race for Oscar
nominee†Ms. Sunayana Kachroo resonated with many. Storytelling was presented by Ms. Valerie Tutson,
founder RI Black Story Tellers & Ms. Julie Yang, Secretary, HMONG RI
Association; Puppetry was presented by Anna Sobel, Puppet Speaks Participating Dance Groups included Ghanshyamsinh
Chavda’s Shrusti Performing Arts, Neha Swroop’s Dancing Divas & Starz Kids,
Anu Surendarn’s Layaa School of Performing Arts, Bina Morparia’s Dance Spirits,
Sayani Banerjee’s Dream Catchers & DFD Academy President Nikhil Shah addressed the community. VP Parul
Shah, Advisor Santosh Behera & Secretary Smriti Gupta invited messages from
Senator Jack Reed, CGI NY Mr. Randhir Jaiswal & Secretary of State, RI
Ms. Nellie Gorbea, respectively. Event
ended with sensational singing by Boston Sargam/One Heart Boston followed by
American & Indian Anthems sung by Ms. Pooja Fitzsimmons & Ms. Anona
Joshi. Participation by multiple cultural organizations
& Artists in RI & MA, depicted multiple Shades of Arts &
Artists & a true reflection of this festival. The beautiful mosaic of celebration completed with the
