The IIFA Awards saw Kal Ho Naa Ho", starring Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta, walking away with all the major honors. It won first place in the best picture category but Hrithik beat SRK for the best actor in a leading role award for his performance in "Koi Mil Gaya". While Preity won the best actress in a leading role tile, Jaya Bachchan won best supporting actress award and Saif the best supporting actor respectively for Kal Ho Na Ho.
KHNH also bagged the following awards: Sonu Nigam won the best male playback singer award; Karan Johar the best story award; Javed Akhtar the best lyrics award; Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy the best music direction award, losing only the best female playback singer award where Alka was beaten by Shreya for her scintillating rendering of the song "Jaadu Hai Nasha Hai" in "Jism".
Kareena Kapoor and her main squeeze Shahid Kapoor have been roped in to play the lead in the Hind version of the Julia Roberts- Hugh Grant Hollywood film ‘ Notting Hill.” Kareena, of course, will play the glam star and Shahid the commoner who falls hard for her.
Our sources tell us that director Director Karan Johar has signed Shah Rukh Khan and Ajay Devgan for his tentatively titles film ‘Kalank’. A romantic film based in India during the Raj, it seems both the super stars were reluctant initially to accept the double hero idea. Karan managed to talk them into signing the dotted line, though and the film is supposed to start shooting by yearend.
So what happened when our own desi Jackie Chan wannabe Akshay Kumar met his idol, Jackie the Chan in the flesh? Akshay has gushed that they both shared notes on doing dangerous stuntson film and also that of all the Bollywood actors JC chose to meet with Akshay. Akshay has two cop films "Police Force" and "Aan: Men At Work" lined up for release in the next two weeks.
Anu Malik nailed at last! A Bangladesh based rock band 'Miles', in its complaint before the Calcutta High Court has accused the popuar music director of plagiarizing a tune from an earlier tune by the band called number 'Phiraiya Dao Aamar Prem'. The court has asked that the song 'Jana Jane Jana' be removed from the film, Murder.
Bollywood film director Kaizad Gustad has been arrested in connection with the death of his UK assistant on a film shoot in India a week ago. Nadia Khan was hit by a train on a shoot in Bombay (Mumbai). Gustad, 27, is the director of ‘Boom’ and is a film and media graduate from London.
He has been charged with making a false complaint, negligence during shooting and fabricating evidence, police reports say. Another member of the film crew, Ashish Udeshi, was also arrested.

While we are not very catty usually, we could not help the meoww when we heard that the ex hot pair Bipasha and Dino were busy being a cozy twosome at the sets of their next film Rakth, a loose remake of the film ‘Gift’. We won’t whisper a word of this to John Abraham though, who is blissfully shooting abroad for a forthcoming film!
