6th CALEIDOSCOPE INDIAN FILM FESTIVAL, BOSTON

Fri, Nov 6th to Sun, Nov 8th, 2020
Lexington Venues Theater And Online

The Caleidoscope Indian Film Festival Boston (CIFFB) is an IMDB recognized, competitive annual film festival in Greater Boston. Now in its 6th year, Caleidoscope is internationally renowned for showcasing the best contemporary arthouse, non-Bollywood and parallel cinema creations. The festival is organized by Indian Arts Boston, a 501(c)(3) non profit public charity organization registered in Massachusetts.

For the first time ever, CIFFB 2020 will be held in a hybrid mode, with few films screened at a theater while the rest will be available online through our streaming partner. This process thus allows thousands of cine lovers in North America to enjoy the rich theatrical content of Caleidoscope from the comfort of their own homes. The early bird pass is just $35 and allows 4 days on-demand viewing of about 15 films across multiple genres. Major films to look forward to are Ahaa Re (Bengali), Bhor (Hindi), Nirvana Inn (Hindi), Biryani (Malayalam), Kathaa@8 (Multi Language), Transistor (Hindi), Musafir Hoon Yaaron (Hindi), Robibaar (Bengali), Ekaant (Hindi), And He Blinks (Silent), Painful Pride (Hindi), Amar Moner Kone Jhar (Bengali, non competition) and others, including Sree - a dance documentary featuring Boston’s well known dance diva and instructor Jayshree Rajamani. All theater shows will be held at the Lexington Venues theater, in Lexington MA with strict application of state mandated pandemic guidelines. In a hall of 175 seats, tickets will be reduced to max 25% capacity allowing plenty of social distancing. Masks are needed at all times and temperature checks will be conducted upon entry. Theater doors will be open at all times. Most importantly, the theater is currently closed and will open only for our shows. This means that only Caleidoscope ticket-holders will be on the premises at the theater. No food or drinks will be allowed. The key attractions at the theater include the highly decorated Gujarati film Hellaro celebrating women’s emancipation, the social drama BarunBabur Bondhu starring the legendary Soumitra Chatterjee, the coming of age story world premiere of Tamil film Achcham Madam Nannam Pariyppu, with Usha Uthup in the cast and Parcel, the Bengali psychological, hard hitting narrative that will make you think well after the show is over. For all show information, please see http://indianfilmfestivalboston.com/theatre-releases.

The mammoth undertaking of Caleidoscope is fueled by the energy of volunteers and funded by a number of well wishing sponsors and partners. It is one of the few Indian festivals that offers cash prizes in several of its recognition categories. Despite a challenging year, we are grateful to receive the support of several leading corporate sponsors, including Mr Subu Kota of The Boston Group, Mr Raj and Mrs Nalini Sharma of The Sharma Group, Mr Beej Das and the Troca Global Advisors, Calcutta Club USA and many other patrons of the arts, whose names will be printed on our web site IndianFilmFestivalBoston.com and on our Facebook group, Caleidoscope Indian Film Festival Boston, where emerging news of the festival is published daily.
