For students interested in participating in this virtual talent show, please follow this link for applying and for further details: SAC Virtual Fundraiser Email & Links The deadline for application is October 26.

SAC Youth Council, a youth initiative of Vishwa Hindu Parishad of America (VHPA), was conceived and organized two years ago in August 2018. SAC Youth Council is youth-founded and youth-led. As Preethi Ganesh put it, the fundraiser is being organized “by the kids, for the kids.” There is a strong trust in "Invest in young people with big dreams and big hopes, because everyone starts somewhere."  The core founding team consists of Avani Kashalikar, Preethi Ganesh, and Roma Patel. At present there are app. 15 members in the SAC Youth Council and the core team is very interested in getting the word out to all High School and freshmen/sophomore college students to join forces in this group. To sign up, please write to sacyouthwing@gmail.com

SAC Youth Council is an outcome of feeling a sense of privilege growing up in America while there are so many millions of children in India without as many educational opportunities. To fill this gap, the youth council decided to do something actively as opposed to just feeling sympathy for the plight of their counterparts in India. The talent show will also provide a platform for many students who could not perform the usual arangetrams or find an outlet for their artistic talent due to the current pandemic. It is a fun activity for students to showcase their talents while raising funds for the underprivileged children in India. It is going to be a national event drawing entries from Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, New York, New Jersey, Chicago, and Atlanta.

Parents of Roma Patel, Gautamji & Yogeshwariji write, “The SAC Youth Council provides opportunities for today's youth to get involved in social service and leadership early on. We are proud parents of Youth Council member Roma Patel. By involving herself with the SAC Youth Council, Roma's perspective toward life has changed significantly. She donated her first paycheck from a part-time Kumon job to support a child's education through SAC. The SAC Youth Council is able to spread awareness and reach out to other youths via social media (facebook, instagram, snapchat etc.) effectively. Participating in Youth Council activities gives Roma and other members the immense satisfaction of doing something good for society. It also gives them the opportunity to stay connected with their rich roots and Indian heritage. We wish that the SAC Youth Council reaches many other like-minded kids & teens in the United States and encourages them to help transform the lives of numerous struggling children through the SAC.”

Please encourage our youth and donate generously to this great cause. https://www.supportachildusa.org/

WHERE DO THEY LIVE?

SAC has specialized hostels with modern facilities. Each hostel has a kitchen-dining area, dorms for children, toilets, common room with TV, library, and other amenities.  Many hostels have playgrounds and swings too. Boys and girls live in separate hostels.

 WHAT IS THEIR FUTURE?

SAC children have bright futures. Many have gone to college for higher studies. We find many students who become doctors, engineers or PhD’s in Bharat and abroad also. Some children get employment at the same hostel or school where they stayed and studied. Some children decide to go back to their village and get involved in agriculture etc.
