Mridula Satyamurti has been painting for the last many years after a very long break since her high school days. Once the more pressing things were taken care of and life reached a place where her every free minute was no longer needed by people she loved, Mridula went back to her love for art. Though Mridula is not a professional artist, art means a lot more to her than just a hobby. It is an integral part of her life.

Even in the years Mridula was not painting she kept her love of art alive by visiting many museums and art shows at every possible opportunity.
Mridula likes to paint in oil and watercolor, she also sculpts in bronze, plaster of Paris and resin. In the last ten years Mridula has taken many art courses to learn the skills essential for an artist. She took her first class with Marylin Kahn, an artist in Sharon MA, and then went on to take sculpting and painting classes at the  Mass College of Art and Design. At the Stonybrook Fine Art school in Jamaica Plain she learned to make bronze sculptures by lost wax process and recently took classes the Academy of Realist Art in Boston. In all, to her learning is a lifelong process.

In her other life Mridula teaches freshmen Chemistry at UMass Boston. She lives in Sharon MA with her loving family.

She talked to Lokvani about her artistic journey.
