NESRS Brundavan (New England Shri Raghavendra Swami Brundavan), the temple dedicated to the venerated saint Shri Raghavendra swami in Lowell MA is celebrating Madhwa Navami on Mar 1, 2020 at Bhakta Samaj Center (147 Frost Rd) in Tyngsboro MA in a grand manner. This is the 4th year celebration of this big event to commemorate Madhwacharya, the 13th century saint and teacher who established the Dwaita school of Vedanta or philosophy.
This is a free event open to all devotees and also features a grand and traditional meal served on banana leaves, prepared and served by devotees and volunteers. This event tends to be attended by 400-600 people every year. Madhwacharya is considered an incarnation of Hanuman and at this event, several special sevas such as Madhu (Honey) abhisheka and Panchamrutha abhisheka as well as Betel leaf garland sevas are dedicated to Hanuman. The current swamiji of the Mantralaya mutt ( root temple of Shri Raghavendra Swami in India) H.H. Shri Subudendra Theertha,will also be sending a video message especially for the devotee base in New England.
NESRS Brundavan was established in 2016 and has ever since been growing a strong community of devotees. After a year of simply bringing devotees together for annual events, the mutt or temple was established in Lowell MA (1527 Middlesex St, #5) in 2017. Managed and run thus far by local area volunteers, the temple is open on Thursday and Saturday evenings and Sunday mornings. On Sundays, the temple serves lunch free of cost for devotees as well.
NESRS Brundavan moves to the next phase from March 5th, 2020, when the temple will remain open 7 days a week with a dedicated full time priest. The priest will also offer the full range of priest services at the temple and at home upon request. For bookings, please call 508-904-7341. As a next step, the organization is raising funds to acquire land and build a permanent temple in the next year or so.
In the last four years, NESRS Brundavan has enriched the community with not just the religious events and services including Guru Paduka Poojas at home, but it has also offered several quality cultural programs with renowned artists like Shri Vidyabhushana, Shri R.K. Padmanabha, Nagachandrika Bhat, Shri Raichur Seshagiri Das and local artists of repute like Pooja Shyam, Meena Subramanyam, Aparna Balaji and Sowmyashri etc. The organization also conducts Gnana Kalpavruksha stotra classes for children and has many chanting groups meet at the temple as well. Some of the upcoming events beyond the Madhwa Navami are a set of monthly lecture demonstrations by Smt Aparna Balaji at the temple. The next one in the series is on Lalitha Kala or fine arts on Feb 22, 2020.
The community that has gathered around this organization is also very diverse drawing from different parts of India.
