The film starts with a dialogue - prabhutvam tho pani cheyinchukune mee hakkuni lancham dwara konukkokandi. Translated it means “ Don’t bribe the government for a work which is your natural right. A noble thought that Tagore , our best hero in the Andhra circuit, Chiranjeevi exhorts his fellowmen. But it is easier said than done. So our Hero Tagore dons a Professors coat and starts teaching at the University. Behind this corridors of education however, he is also the mastermind behind the undercover, dreaded ACP( Anti-Corruption Force. ) This force which the man of the street adores, has abducted15 of the most corrupt officials from each department of the government and killed the one who is the most corrupt. This is done to instill terror in the hearts of these officials and making them wonder, who next ?
So while keeping the innocent façade of a Professor, Tagore builds a network of ACF members, sending his students into all the government offices as recruits. They maintain records of all the dishonest officeholders, their properties, and gather evidence. Meanwhile in repeated fashion, MROs (mandal Revenue Officers) , SPs (superintendents of police) etc are kidnapped and the top corrupted ones are killed .
While this undercover operation makes many enemies, it also leads to growing adulation from the masses. Enter Prakash Raj, a police car driver who is given the chance to investigate the case and soon Tagore’s fate is sealed. But he is offered freedom in the most dramatic way and I wont tell you how.
Hmm, What can I say about Tagore ? You may have seen bad and good movies before and movies with special effects, and scintillating dance sequences, with stylized fights but Tagore takes all this masala to its ultimate. All these traditional movie ingredients, just like glycerin and navel and ketchup, have been used generously. Tagore employs this vital ingredient to an alarming new level. Completely a commercial venture, the concept is a lift off from a Tamil movie called Ramana. The fights are unbelievable, all right. Not to mention incredible, astounding, mind-boggling and stylized.
The movie has some entertaining scenes where for a good five minutes we have Tagore reeling away all the statistics of Andhra Pradesh to a jaw dropping heroine, Shriya. Other memorable moments are the hospital scenes dripping with corrupt doctors, comedy by Sunil, cook and baby sitter who breaks into a totally hilarious veena dance every time the heroine smiles at him. With all its commercial value, the Movie succeeds in driving home some points of the rights and duties of citizens and how eliminating corruption lies in the hands of the people.
I recommend ONLY one viewing just for its sheer entertainment value.
