Press Release 11/14/2019 Dr. Rahul Sharma, is one of the recipients of the 45 under 45 award
given by the American College of Emergency Physician (ACEP), this year. The ACEP conference was held in Denver, CO, from Oct 26-30, 2019. Rahul
Sharma, MD, MBA, FACEP is the inaugural Chairman for the Department of
Emergency Medicine and the Emergency Physician-in Chief at New York
Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medicine. Dr. Sharma is the recipient of several
awards, including the American College of Emergency Physicians National
Faculty Teaching Award, the Emergency Medicine Residents’ Association
(EMRA) National Leadership Award, the American Medical Association (AMA)
Foundation Leadership Award and the 2017 Emergency Care Innovation of
the Year Award. In 2019, Dr. Sharma was named a top 25 innovator in the
healthcare industry by modern healthcare. Dr. Sharma has devised
and led several innovative initiatives and educational programs, which
have significantly improved patient and clinician experience, core
quality measures and overall operational efficiency. He is a national
leader in the fields of emergency medicine, healthcare operations,
telemedicine, and virtual healthcare. Dr. Sharma’s accomplishments
have been featured in several national journals and media platforms,
including The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, NEJM Catalyst
and JAMA, and he has been an invited guest speaker at several national
and international programs, including the National Academy of Medicine. He
serves on the American College of Emergency Physicians’ National
Emergency Medicine Practice Committee and the Quality Improvement and
Patient Safety Committee, and is an oral boards examiner for the
American Board of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Sharma is also a member of the
New York State Board for Medicine and currently serves as the Vice
