Nausheen Sardar Ali who shot to fame in the TV hit serial KKusum now makes her theatre debut with Kkusum Manhar Lele. Supporting her in this Hindi play are her co-stars from the serial including Kkusum’s screen in-laws Sarla (Rupa Divetia) and Nitin (Nitin Trivedi). The other caste members are Arundhati (Manisha Kanojia), Raj Premi, Rajendra Chawla amd Sweety Nayak.

Produced and adapted by Nikita Wadia, Kkusum Manhar Lele is directed by Gujarati theatre director Umesh Parekh (Lagan Gaadu Chaale Aadu, Lajja Tane Mare Saam) who makes his debut on the Hindi circuit with this venture.

The play is a lavish production. It cannot be categorized as a family drama or thriller or suspense play. There is everything in it including comedy. Interestingly, Kkusum Manhar Lele is based on a true story that happened in Pune in 1986. It takes a look at the dilemma of a woman whose husband claims their child is only his, not hers.

The drama, based on a book of the same name, was first staged in Marathi by Vinay Apte. It has also been staged in Gujarati titled Man Pacham Na Mela Ma by Feroz Bhagat.

The play has already completed a record run of 1000 shows in Marathi and had won rave reviews when it was first staged a few years ago in Maharashtra. The first show of the Hindi play was recently staged in Calcutta where it got a standing ovation from a 4000-strong audience at the Birla theatre. The play premiered on the 8th of February at Rangsharda Auditorium.
