Friends of Indian Senior Citizens Organization, (FISCO) Burlington, MA held their 9th get together Diwali Dinner Celebration on Saturday, September 21st, 2019 at Belmont Council on Aging, 266 Beech Street, Belmont, MA.
The program was designed to bring together its members and other senior communities along with their families, children and grandchildren, providing unique opportunity to get to know each other. The hall was jam packed with about 220 guests attended from various towns. The program started at 4:00 PM with appetizer followed by a prayer by Rakshit Mazumdar. FISCO’s current president Mr. Raman Gandhi welcome all and greeted Shubh Diwali. He also outlined that FISCO’s General Body Meeting was held on August 21st and at that time, an election was held for a New Executive Committee. Mr. Anil Shah, Ms. Trupti Patel and Ms. Divya Chaturvedi were presided as judges. Mr. Anil Shah introduced Mr. Raman Gandhi as President, Mr. Rakshit Mazumdar and Mr. Jayanti Patel as Vice President, Mr. Surendra Bhagadia as Secretary, Mr. Gautam Gandhi as Treasurer, Ms. Pushpa Shah, Ms. Paresha Jhaveri and Mr. Indravadan Shah as Directors.
FISCO’s retiring president Mr. Dinesh Shah expressed his good wishes to new committee. This year FISCO honored Mr. Girish Mehta, founder of Indian Circle for Caring for his outstanding community services and for achieving a helm of best non-profit organization in New England area. FISCO also honored Mr. Amarjit Singh, owner of Zaika Indian Restaurant, Woburn for providing quality lunch to FISCO at a reasonable price every Wednesday for the last six years.
Raman Gandhi, President of FISCO also described various activities of FISCO during the year, saying, “FISCO is a nonprofit organization and does not have any charitable, religious or political agenda. FISCO is able to provide all these services for the last nine years with the help of Minute Man Senior Services and donations from private entrepreneurs and individuals. Burlington Senior Center is providing a large hall to FISCO every Wednesday to facilitate our activities. FISCO does not receive any help from State or Federal Government.
The night got more colorful with Bollywood music singers, Ujjwal Parikh and Suzana Naik. FISCO is very humble and thankful for their volunteering service for our seniors. The program ended with delicious Indian vegetarian dishes catered by BAPS Shayona, Lowell, MA and a complementary Indian style ice cream provided by Sonalben and Satishbhai Khakhar.
