Versatile Hindustani Vocalist Rahul Deshpande To Sing Classical,
Semi-Classical, NatyaSangeet And Ghazals In Boston

Boston based non-profit organizations KalaVaibhav and LearnQuest Academy of Music will feature the talented Hindustani vocalist Rahul Deshpande accompanied by Milind Kulkarni on the harmonium and Yashwant Vaishnav on the tabla in a special concert to be held on Saturday, September 21 at 4pm at Innovation Academy Auditorium, 72 Tyng Road, Tyngsboro, MA 01879. Grandson of the legendary Hindustani vocalist, the late Pandit Vasantrao Deshpande, Rahul Deshpande’s past performances at the LearnQuest Music Conference and KalaVaibhav were very impressive. His musical career got a boost with his playback singing in the Marathi movie “Katyar Kalijat Ghusali”. He has also acted and sung in the Marathi film “Bal Gandharva” and has given dozens of classical and semi-classical music performances over the years.

In a 40 day tour across several US cities, the musical trio, Rahul Deshpande, Milind Kulkarni and Yashwant Vaishnav will present several concerts and make a stop in Boston on Saturday, September 21. 

Rahul Deshpande started learning music at a young age. He was inspired not only by his grandfather but also stalwart musicians such as Pandit Kumar Gandharva, Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, Pandit Mallikarjun Mansoor and Vidushi Kishori Amonkar. He learned with Pandit Mukul Shivputra, the son of the iconic vocalist Pandit Kumar Gandharva for several years.

The talented harmonium player Milind Kulkarni has received training from Pandit Vasantrao Gurav, Pandit Anna Diwan and Pandit Pramod Marathe. He is also learning vocal music from Pandit Kashalkar and receiving training in the art of playing the tabla from Pandit Suresh Talwalkar.

Hailed by audiences as a wonder child, twenty-five year old tabla artist, Yashwant Vaishnav has learned with his father Shri Rajendra Vaishnav, Shri Hemant Sachdev, Shri Mukund Bhale and is currently undergoing training with Punjab gharana tabla maestro Yogesh Samsi.
