Saswat Joshi is an internationally acclaimed Odissi dancer and choreographer, born and brought up in Titilagarh, Bolangir district in Odisha. He learned Odissi under the able guidance of Padmashree Kumkum Mohanty and Padmashree Ileana Citaristi. He has 30 years of learning experience and his Abhinaya in Astapadi got many recognition for him in world forum.
He became the face of Odisha Tourism/Culture for promoting Odissi and folk dances all over the world. He received Sangeet Ratna with gold medal in Odissi dance from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata. He earned National Scholarship from Ministry of Culture Govt. Of India. Saswat was also seen in the film "The Journey" by Hollywood director Sandrine Da Costa in the year 2012.
Shri Joshi is a well known name in the Indian film industry as choreographer and in the reality shows as Dance Master Saswat. His performance in the film Koun Kitney Pani Mein (Rangabati fame) received wide acclamation all over world. And he's popularly became the Rangabati King of Bollywood.
In his own dance festival Aekalavya, a tribute to Guru Shishya Paramapara he created awareness in classical dance and created a wonderful platform for youth. He has already organised the Aekalavya dance festival in Malaysia, Dubai(UAE) and Singapore. He is now associated with Tamilnadu tourism for Incredible India project. He has opened many Odissi institutions across India and abroad for promotion of classical and folk dance in countries like; Italy, Hungary, Japan, France and United Kingdom. He is the founder/director of Lasyakala Dance Vision.
He joined as guest faculty in Rajasthan Central University. He has performed in 62 countries across the globe and allover India. He performed with his team last year in 49th OSA Convention at Detroit, MI and this year in OSA Golden Jubilee Convention at Atlantic City, NJ.
He was awarded as "Youth Icon" by Odia Society of United Kingdom(OSUK) and "The Artist" by Musee Guimet, France.
His performance in the ballet Nirvana as Gautam Buddha on the birth anniversary and 2600 years Enlightenment Celebration of Gautama Buddha got wide acclaimed in many Asian countries.
He worked as the choreographer of many Bollywood movies and trained many actors from the industry like; Radhika Apte, Kunal Kapoor to name a few.
His Bollywood debut and Rangabati presentation from the film Koun Kitney Pani Mein was blockbuster hit.
This year in the month of May he created history and brought laurel for the state of Odisha by performing the famous Sambalpuri Dance in front of world famous Eiffel Tower, Paris. The video became the very popular and went viral allover the world and he made the whole Odisha and India proud.
He also performed in many iconic towers of the world such as Petronas Towers, Malaysia, Merlion Park, Singapore, Kuwait Towers, Kuwait, Burj Khalifa, Dubai, Colosseum in Italy, Red Square, Moscow, Russia and near many other world landmarks.
He is now the brand ambassador of Odisha Tourism and face of Soulful Odisha, Manyavar, Boyanika and Utkalika.
This year Saswat completed his 10000 stage performance in Konark Dance Festival.
