The Vedas explain that the goal of every living being is God-realization or the attainment of God. Despite our best efforts, we seem far from achieving this goal. Deluded by ignorance and draped in mental impurities, our consciousness has turned away from God, preventing us from reaching our goal.
How do we overcome this then? The answer is simple Reader - we need to acquire spiritual knowledge that will help remove ignorance and purify the mind of its defects.
In order to obtain divine spiritual knowledge, Shri Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita tells Arjun to approach a Guru (a bonafide spiritual master), and submissively inquire into the absolute truth. The Guru dispels darkness of ignorance by shining the light of spiritual wisdom in the intellect of seekers.
Reader, if you surrender the intellect to such a Guru, he/she can then impart spiritual knowledge to you, teach you the sadhana to purify the mind, decouple the intellect from its ignorance, and guide you in achieving the ultimate human goal!
