Ranjan Damodar 06/20/2019 A standing ovation for Geetmala ke Char Amar Sangeetkar with Shri Ameen Sayani On June 1st 2019 a sold out music show “Geetmala ke Char Amar Sangeetkar†rekindled our fond memories of the Geetmala program with a spotlight on four music directors from that era. Dr. Mohan Subramaniam and his stellar team of singers Sowmya Shri, Raghu Saranathan, Nidhi Tare Lad, Hemant Patkar regaled the audiences with lovely melodies of four music directors, presenting songs that showcased the grandeur of Naushad, the purity of Madan Mohan, the charm of OP Nayyar and the versatility of Laxmikant Pyarelal. The great legend Shri Ameen Sayani ji presented commentary for the program by sharing his memories and interviews with these great music directors. The show was opened by Mihika Varma a Television Star. Shri Ameen Sayani the legendary figure who made such beautiful music an integral part of our lives and forged it into our collective identity introduced the program. Dr. Mohan Subramaniam presented a medley of four songs, one from each music director. Pukarta chala hoon main for OP Nayyar, Teri Aakhon ke siva for Madan Mohan, Ek Pyar ka Nagma hai for Laxmikant Pyarelal and Tu Ganga Ki Mauj for Naushad. This was followed by the singers performing some of their most memorable music. Nidhi Tare Lad presenting Aayeeye meherban, Sowmya Shri presenting Naina Barse, Raghu Saranathan presenting Aaj ki Raat mere dil ki Salami le, Hemant Patkar presenting Sachai Chup Nahi sakti. The audiences were mesmerized with one song after the other from the collection of these music directors. The audiovisuals prepared by the producer of the show Dr. Mohan Subramaniam mesmerized the audiences who watched in rapt attention. Preetesh Shrivastava had people in splits with his comic interlude. After intermission there was a unique segment called Yaman Kalyan ke Aakar that was introduced by the esteemed musicians Smt Tara Anand and Dr Datatreya Velankar who elaborated how hindi film music was heavily influenced by ragas. The singers presented a beautiful medley of songs based on Yaman Kalyan from the four music directors. The program ended with a beautiful fare well by Shri Ameen Sayani and a group song from mother India that tugged the heart of people in the whole auditorium (link attached) that gave a standing ovation.
