On Friday, November 2nd, the Committee to Elect Dimple Rana for 2019 Councillor At-Large in Revere, hosted a Diwali celebration, the first time ever in the city. Local officials, Mayor Brian Arrigo, Senator Boncore, and Speaker of the House Robert DeLeo, Revere residents, and Dimple's family were in attendance.
Over 200 people attended the Diwali celebrations. This event featured a film about Dimple's mom, Lata Rana, "Campaign for a New American" by Qin Li through the Community Supported Film program New Immigrant and Refugee Visions. Attendees danced to garba and dandia and other music courtesy of Deejay Indio. A full Indian food buffet was provided by Godavari Restaurant in Woburn and Kabob Hut in Revere.
Candidate Dimple Rana will launch her full campaign for Councillor At-Large in the Spring. Dimple is the first woman of color and first Indian American to run for office in Revere. To learn more about Rana for Revere and ways to get involved and support please visit www.ranaforrevere.com.
