Indo US Health Initiatives Announces 3rd International Conference

Indo US Health Initiatives has joined efforts with the Institute of Advanced Sciences, the Boston Center of Excellence in Health and Human Development, S_VYASA, Benson-Henry Mind Body Institute and the Indian Consulate, New York, to bring its 3rd International Conference to Boston beginning on Friday, June 22nd and extending through Sunday, June 24th.

 

Last year’s conference, which drew more than 300 attendees, focused on opioid addiction and pain management. This year’s focus is on Integrative medicine, specifically the role Yoga and Ayurvedic medicine play in Cancer and Palliative Care. The international conference will bring together experts from around the world who specialize in modern medicine and traditional healing systems.

 

The two-day conference, held at Harvard Medical School’s Joseph Martin Conference Center, features experts from the medical community, dignitaries and speakers who will offer seminars, keynotes, research presentations and workshops.

 

The Federal Health Minister of India Mr. J.P. Nadda, bestselling author of “Yoga as Medicine”Dr. Timothy McCall, the personal Yoga teacher for the Prime Minister of India, Dr. HR Nagendra, author of “Why Buddha Never had Alzheimer’s”, Dr. Shuvendu Sen, and the former Dean at Harvard Medical, Dr. Vikas Sukhatme, will be speaking. Some notable Boston names, such as Massachusetts Secretary of Health and Human Services Marylou Sudders, is expected to be in attendance.

 

In 2012, an estimated 14.1 million new cancer cases occurred worldwide; the four most common are lung, female breast, bowel and prostate cancer. By 2030 an estimated 23.6 million new cases of cancer will be reported worldwide each year. Yoga and Ayurvedic medicine have been proven to significantly aid in the treatment and palliative care of millions by reducing suffering and cost of care.

 

“The purpose of this symposium is to set the groundwork to transform healthcare with an integrative approach utilizing the ancient systems of Yoga and Ayurveda,” said Dr. Bal Ram Singh, PhD., Managing Editor of Ayurveda Journal of Health and Conference Chairman. “This event will bring together the world’s leading experts in the fields of cancer and palliative care to address these critical issues and develop a strategic plan to integrate these practices to improve healthcare across the globe,” he added.

 

Following the conference, MIT Kresge Auditorium will host “An Evening with Celebrities and Experts” on Sunday, June 24th from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM, to conclude the weekend. This public event, with the same goal to promote Yoga and Ayurveda as a part of integrative medicine, will treat guests to a night of education and entertainment, with a special Yogic Power Demonstration by Yogi Coudoux. Additional special guests include: Dr. Greg Fricchione, Director Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine, Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala, famous actress Gautami Tadimalla, and former Indian Cricket Team Captain, and cancer survivor, Yuv Raj Singh. Registration for both events can be completed online here
