Saheli organized a Mehendi afternoon at the Chelmsford Senior Center on Sunday April 8. Saheli is an organization dedicated to empowering South Asian women and their families in Massachusetts to lead safe and healthy lives. It was an event with the purpose of bringing members of various communities together. Saheli used the event to spread awareness of domestic violence and to share how Saheli helps women and families dealing with domestic violence situations!
The event was put together by Farhat, Masooma and Durriya . The event was a fun women’s only event. Mehendi artists Amrith and Rosa were on site to put lovely designs on the women’s hands. Several clothes and jewelry vendors sold beautiful merchandize.
“We just needed a relaxed way for women to come together and celebrate our sisterhoodâ€, said Rita Shah, one of the several volunteers who helped out all day and to our vendors for sponsoring the event!!
Good food, great music and great conversations made the Saheli Mehendi afternoon a success.
