Geetha Patil 04/05/2018 Shivalaya Temple of Greater Boston, MA celebrated Hanuman Janmotsav on Saturday, March 31, 2018 with devotees to commemorate the birth of Lord Hanuman Ji, who is also the foremost devotee of Lord Rama. Hanuman Janmotsav was celebrated with devotees in a cultural and traditional way. On this auspicious day, devotees worshiped him to obtain his magical strengths to keep them away from evil powers and troubles in life. The celebration started in the evening with a special Abhishekam of Lord Ganesh, Ma Gauri, Lord Shiva and Lord Hanuman Ji. In the temple, Hanuman idol was adorned with a special Alankaram with nice clothes and attractive jewelries and garlands. Devotees offered lots of sweets to Lord Hanuman Ji. After the Abhishekam, temple priest Pt. Gangadhar Ji performed Satya Narayana Poojam and recited Katha in a melodic tune to all the devotees with brief explanation. All enthusiastic devotees listened to the Katha for great beneficial results because the performance of this puja with faith and devotion, devotees benefit by removing their problems and resolving difficulties. It is said that Hanuman Chalisa is one of the great poetic works of Goswami Tulsidas that holds a special place and importance among Hindus. It is believed that reciting Hanuman Chalisa is very powerful as it helps to reduce the effects of Sade Sati, and also brings good health and prosperity. On this occasion, Pt. Gangadhar recited Hanuman Chalisa along with devotees with utmost devotion for the prosperity, success, and peace. Prasad was distributed to all the devotees after Maha Mangalarati. Melodic Arati songs filled the shrine with spiritual atmosphere. Priest thanked all the devotees for their active participation and involvement.
