03/29/2018 “We are committed to India in a big way and would like to
strengthen Safe Water’s engagement through partnerships at the local and
corporate level†stated Kurt Soderlund, CEO, Safe Water Network. He was on a
visit to Hyderabad to celebrate the 100th Safe Water station
partnership with Honeywell, India. Locally know as IJal’s these water stations now provide safe water
to more than 3.30 lakh people in Telangana. Speaking at the media conference, Honeywell
India President Vikas Chadha committed to another 30 stations by the end of the
2019 benefitting 4.20lakh people. “This is truly a partnership showcasing the power
of social enterprise and ease of livingâ€, he said. “The Telangana government
has played its part through Mission Bhaghirathi for which we grateful.Our water stations have provided
livelihood to around 400 people many of
whom are women giving them both access and incomeâ€, he said. Mr Vikas Chadha also stated that they were happy to partner
with SWN as the people and the passion behind the enterprise was world class. Honeywell India had won a Golden Peacock
Award for its work with Safe water network and the water treatment facilities meeting
global standards in safety in water treatment, using technologies such as
reverse osmosis and ultraviolet filtration. The stations have ‘Water
ATMs’ where consumers can use cards to buy water at Rs 5 for 20 litres of water,
while all the data regarding filtration and consumption of water is recorded
24/7 by remote satellite monitoring. It is run entirely by the local community
who own, operate and generate revenue by running these stations making them
