Darshan Agrahara Thippeswamy
IT Trainer for the Deaf
Darshan a 23 year young professional is working with Cheshire Bangalore – as an IT Trainer for the Deaf. He has speech and hearing disability and has completed his 10th Grade education from Shastry School for the Deaf, Bangalore. In his current capacity as an IT trainer, he trains deaf individuals in computer skills. Besides this, he handles MIS database for AIF, facilitates disability sensitization workshops, teaches sign language to Corporates and is creating a vocabulary of signs by building picture dictionaries for his trainees.
Darshan has trained more than 100 deaf candidates and 1000+ volunteers, has been a co-trainer in training 5+ corporates in sign language, working on building a complete picture dictionary to build vocabulary for the deaf. He also creates a platform for the non-disabled to learn sign language. As part of sign language sessions, he has created videos to make this learning more interesting and easier. He also visits companies where deaf are hired to teach sign language to the staff and help them with induction and effective delivery of process training.
He wants to make this world a better place to live by encouraging people at both ends of the spectrum to come out of their comfort zone in communicating with each other. In his opinion, this can happen by the deaf strengthening their written communication and other people – learning a bit of sign language. He wants to bridge this gap and ensure the future deaf fraternity does not go through what he endured and all remaon connected.
