After Tamil Thai Vaazathu, Tamil Makkal Mandram’s President Karthikeyan Ramu welcomed Padma Bhushan Dr. Kamal Haasan with his meticulously put together speech, which strung names of most of Dr. Kamal Haasan’s movies into a beautiful garland of praise, respect and thanks. This was followed by Tamil Makkal Mandram and other attending Tamil Sangams, felicitating Padma Bhushan Dr. Kamal Haasan with “Ponnadai (shawl), bouquet and memento in appreciation for his amazing contribution to Tamil and arts.

Praising his efforts to promote Harvard Tamil Chair and his donation, Tamil Chair Founder Mrs. Vijaya Sambantham thanked and conveyed best wishes for Dr. Kamal Haasan's future endeavors. On this occasion, Dr. Kamal Haasan also released Tamil Makkal Mandram’s bi-annual magazine “Tamizhosai”. This was followed by a series of tributes to “Ulaganayagan” - Tamil Vandhanam and Surya Kavithuvam Bharatanatyam performance by students of “Kolam Academy of Dance” under the able guidance of Guru Smt. Sujatha Meyyappan, musical tribute of Kamal Songs sung by some of Boston’s best singers and upcoming talent and a foot tapping energetic dance medley on Dr. Kamal Haasan’s movie songs by Mahesh Balan, Nataraj Alagappan, Thilaka Ramesh and team.

The crowd waited eagerly with bated breath to listen to their Ulaganayagan Padma Bhushan Dr. Kamal Haasan to address them and share his ideas with them. True to it, Dr. Kamal Haasan, thrilled the audience with his “Naalai Namathe” video, which depicted his vision for a model village as a first to his plan of developing Tamil Nadu. He spoke with charisma and conviction about his plans to start his political party on 21 Feb 2018, plans of growing and nurturing development from grass root levels for the people and with the people to make Tamil Nadu and India flourish even more. He also revealed that his upcoming party's core policies would aim to improve quality of rural education, affordable health care, waterways enhancement, environmental protection etc.

He reiterated his vision of collecting people’s ideas and providing them a trusted platform to work with him in suggesting, developing and implementing actions to enable people to further achieve their goals and develop Tamil Nadu. He introduced his online website "http://www.maiam.com" which will enable his supporters/volunteers from anywhere enroll themselves. The cheering, applause and ovation from the audience was astounding…the happiness on their faces and the nods of their heads cheered and conveyed their enthusiasm to be a part of this change and development. Dr. Kamal Haasan also beautifully responded to questions from people.

The event concluded with a detailed vote of thanks by Boston Thamil Association’s president Smt. Vanitha Sivagejan followed by Indian National anthem video sung by Dr. Kamal Haasan himself and the American National Anthem played beautifully by Sudarshan Prasanna.
