Celebrating Christmas at the Soup kitchen NH by We Care Charity

December 23rd 2017 was a very special day for a group of kids. We care charity; a 501 © (3) non-profit hosted approximately 14 kids at the Soup Kitchen, Nashua NH to give thanks and celebrate Christmas with the homeless. Kids and parents from different towns like Burlington, Woburn came together on an icy, brutal cold day to prepare dinner for 300 homeless people at the Soup Kitchen, Nashua, NH. Kinder Gardeners to College students spent their Christmas vacation for a selfless cause.

Shefali Kalyani; the founder of the organization; greeted the kids and helped them to make a healthy dinner for the homeless. We all washed After washing hands Kids helped in making pasta with meat and veggies; salad and garlic bread to eat at the center and packed ham sandwiches and resin in brown bags to take out.

Some kids cut onions, lettuce, cucumber, pepper and peeled potatoes for the first time. It was funny to watch kids crying while peeling and cutting onions. Kids were proud to learn the act of giving through this experience.

Kids made garlic bread by cutting loaf of bread; using homemade garlic butter spread and helping to put them in the oven. A room full of kids; working together without arguing and fighting was a scene to watch. After working for 2 hours; kids still wanted to wait and serve, but kids had to leave respecting policy “No Children while serving”.

Shefali talked to the group about We care charity. She talked about the organization and roles of individuals to make we care charity a successful nonprofit. The organization has zero over-head, unpaid volunteers and a big heart to keep serving 2000 meals per month. 100% of the donation is used for the cause.  We care charity feeds 200 to 300 homeless for 300$. The organization is funded by the generous support of various donors and annual event “Dil Se”; which means from heart. As any other functioning of the organization; “Dil se” is completely volunteer based and 100% of the collection is used for the cause. We wish “Dil Se 2108” a huge success and surly a Sold out event once again.

The organization is spread out to various locations around NH, MA and out seas in India. Besides providing homemade meals to needy; it provides educational assistant to deserving students. We care charity is proud to have Meal on wheels; where volunteers deliver meals to disable needy individuals.

Kids listened to Shefali for 30 mins, completely hypnotized by her talk. She was overwhelmed with the questions and concerns from an over-enthusiastic young group. We were privileged to get a private tour to the soup kitchen by Shefali. She thanked parents and kids for their support and generosity. We all dispersed with hugs and kisses; wishes and blessings from Shefali and promising to return in June 2018. Kids promised to organize a fund raiser for We care charity and donate the proceeding for the gratifying cause.

We all thank Shefali Kalyani for this blissful opportunity. We care charity is always looking for financial assistance and volunteers, please feel free to contact We Care Charity; 16 Deerfield Street; Salem, NH 03079.
