The Telugu Association of Boston celebrated Diwali celebrations as part of the Boston Telugu Festival. A full length comedy drama Kirayi Chuttalu (rented relatives), by the same group of artists ‘Antha Scene Ledhu’ that performed last year came back to perform yet another winner . Professionally executed with plenty of sound effects and an innovative stage setting, it was evident that Mr Madhu Chary along with his team of actors had put in a lot of effort for this production.

The Association also gave awards to Sri Rayapati Sambasiva Rao (Ex MP, agriculturist, social and political activist). Ranjan Vadlapatla, President, TAGB gave the welcome address and highlighted the events of the year. Addressing the chief guest he said “For more than two decades, he has dedicated himself as a community leader providing distinguished leadership service to the people of Andhra Pradesh”. And I know that he will continue to do credit to that tradition in the years ahead." It also honored Sri Darisi Pavan, for his various accomplishments and social work. Sri Pradeep Shakti, Veteran actor/ Director and Producer was also present as the Special Guest.

The program also included a kid’s fancy dress competition, songs, dances, and classical music. Tiny Tots strutted on the stage dressed in all their finery and some even enacted their role. Other highlights included classical dance performances: a Vinayaka Tandavam by Nivedita and Manaswini, while Sowmya, Haritha, Renuka and Manasa performed Gajavadhana in perfect harmony. Swathi Maddula performed a lively Thillana while Jayanti Gatraju, a dance teacher in the Boston area performed a Krishna dance. The evening perked up with dances from popular films with Pranathi Kaki, and Bhavana Kaki doing a Simhadri Movie song dance sequence. Divya Kompella along with three others danced to some wonderful choreography and Uttam Mogilicherla was energetic in the ‘Boys’ telugu movie song ‘Sarigame’ dance.

The event was sponsored by the Boston Group and numtv.com. Anu Chitrapu , Emcee, did a fine job of heralding the programs for the evening in an organized fashion
