Suhas Katikaneni - Sports, Chess
Suhas is in the NH Smash (Math Team) and represents Nashua South High School which placed first in the State. He also placed 1st (highest Score) among all the freshmen in the State. He placed 2nd in the Science Olympiad in one of the topics. Suhas has won NH team Chess Championship. In middle school, he won the Constitution Day Essay Competition from New Hampshire.
Kathir Meyappan - Math
Kathir Meyyappan is an eight grader who attends Blanchard Middle School. He absolutely loves math. He has participated and placed in various math competitions.
John Hopkins Award – he is in the 99 percentile range for past the 5 years. He took SAT as 7th grader and was invited by Johns Hopkins for their SET (Study of Exceptional Talent) having scored 780/800 in SAT Math. He has been to the nationals 7 years in a row to compete in North South Foundation (NSF) math bee. He has won and placed in top 3 for the past few years in Big Help math competitions. He has been placed on the top 20 nationally in Math Kangaroo continuously for the last 5 years. Received Honor Roll in AMC 8 and made it to the state level in Math counts.
In addition, he has been learning Carnatic vocal for the past 7 years and Carnatic Mridangam for the past 3 years. He is holder of second degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. He plays Clarinet in the school band and Jazz band. He volunteers at Nashua Soup Kitchen one day a month with IANH group.
Neeharika Munjal
Neeharika is a Senior at Andover High School. She has been actively involved in community service for past several years.
Neeharika is passionate about community service and constantly seeks opportunities to give back. Moved by the Ekal cause, she donated all her pocket money to adopt an Ekal school for life thus bringing education to 30 children in the village. Last year, she was invited by the US Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya to give a talk on “Youth of USA presents Life: Past, Present and Future to the Youth of Kenya in Africaâ€. She made her volunteer effort at Wingate Nursing and Rehab Facility, Andover and other work that she has done for Ekal Vidyalaya etc as a center piece of her efforts. . Neeharika left a lasting impression on the Kenyan youth and Embassy management staff. Earlier this year, she won ‘First Place’ place in DECA’s Regional Marketing Competition in the category of ‘Hospitality and Tourism’. Classically trained in Kathak, Neeharika also loves fencing, squash and swimming. She aspires a career in Healthcare management.
Shanmukha Srinivasan
Passionate about technology, Shanmukha used his technical skills to create a unique fundraising event for Ekal. He along with Ayush Upneja and Vikram Pathalam designed an App Creating workshop and an app building competition using Thunkable that was used as a fundraiser. Called 'Ekal Appathon', the first Ekal Appathon was implemented at Boston University. He was also a lead for Ekal Appathon in Bedford, NH. As part of these events, he also mentored the participants. The Thunkable-Appathon blueprint created by his team was extended to the Ekal San Diego Chapter. Next year it is hoped to make this a National event. Young, talented and easy-going Shanmukha is a leader making an impact beyond New England.
