Divya Nag of Apple, Rishi Shah and Shradha Agarwal of Outcome Health were named to the annual Fortune “40 Under 40” list, the publication recently announced.

Among the individuals on the list were Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar, Divya Nag of Apple, Rishi Shah and Shradha Agarwal of Outcome Health, and Leila Janah of nonprofit Samasource.

Varadkar, 38, whose father was born in India, at No. 5 on the list, was the top individual of Indian origin on Fortune's 2017 list of the most influential people under 40 in business.

This former doctor is Ireland’s youngest leader in centuries, not to mention its first-ever openly gay one — no small detail in his devoutly Catholic country, Fortune said of Varadkar.

The publication added that the prime minister "dismisses all that as irrelevant. Far more crucial is his ability to protect the Celtic Tiger against economic disaster when Britain exits the E.U. in 2019, and guarding Ireland’s low-tax deals with tech giants."

The 26-year-old Nag was the top Indian American on the list, coming in at No. 27. Nag works on special projects at Apple, and is responsible for CareKit and ResearchKit.

By the time Nag had joined Apple at 23, she had dropped out of Stanford, founded a stem-cell research startup and begun a medical investment accelerator, Fortune wrote in her profile.

Now she oversees Apple’s ambitious ResearchKit and CareKit programs that encourage developers to build health-related apps. If Apple succeeds, it could transform clinical trials from isolated events at hospitals to ongoing studies that capture vital signs from omnipresent sensors, it added.

Shah, 31, and Agarwal, 32, serve as the chief executive and president at Outcome Health, respectively. The duo came in at No. 38 on the list.

This more than 10-year-old health-tech firm, Fortune said, earlier this year raised the kind of money that unicorns dream about, bringing in over $500 million at a valuation of more than $5 billion.

Outcome says it has already outfitted more than 40,000 doctor’s offices with touch screens and tablets that can deliver meditation apps, relevant medical information and advertising to patients, it added.

The 31-year-old Janah serves as the CEO and co-founder of Samasource. She eked into the list devoted to disruptors, innovators, rebels and artists inspiring others at No. 40.

Her nonprofit is on track to pull in $15 million in revenue this year by setting up workers in Kenya, Uganda, India and other underprivileged parts of the world as remote freelancers for the tech sector, an arrangement that boosts their average wages from less than $2.50 a day to more than $8, according to Fortune.

Janah, who also founded a skin-care line that employs women in Uganda, stresses the importance of work — not charity — in fighting global poverty, it added. She has a new book entitled "Give Work" that outlines her philosophy that is scheduled to be released this fall.

Topping the list was French President Emmanuel Macron. Rounding out the spots ahead of Varadkar were Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg at No. 2, Didi Chuxing co-founders Cheng Wei and Jean Liu at No. 3, and Airbnb CEO and co-founders Brian Chesky, Nathan Blecharczyk and Joe Gebbia at No. 4.
