The 17th Anniversary of Patotsav Celebration was held at the Satsang Center, Woburn, MA on July 23, 2017.
Down Memory Lane: We were fortunate to have Sri Morari Bapu come to Satsang Center on July 9, 2000 for the Prem-Pratishtha of our Moorties. He blessed the inaugural rituals for Sri Ganeshji and Sri Hanumanji. Then we had Ramayana Katha for 9 days by Sri Sharadbhai Vyas. Every day we did Prem-Pratishtha of one Deity.
Since then we have been celebrating Patotsav, every year. Patotsav, meaning, when God was invited to take that residence in these Moorti, we offered Pat (Phonetically – Paat) meaning Aasan. Utsav means celebration. Why Prem Pratishtha as opposed to Pran-Pratishhtha. Pratishtha meaning – to establish or install the Pran – Spirit of God in these moorties. As God is OMni present – living in every atom in the form of energy, OMniscient – All knowing, OMnipotent – All powerful; then how could he be invited to come and take abode in these Moorties? He is there, anyway. But it is our Bhaav (Spiritual Emotions) which makes us exhilarated when we feel that we have invited God to come and reside in these Moorties. When we see these Moorties, it invokes that Bhaav the presence of God in these Moorties. We feel the outpouring of blessings from God when make eye connection – do Darshan. We feel that our Manokamana – desires will be fulfilled. We establish the direct connection with our Ishtha Dev or Devi - thru these moorties.
According to our tradition when we do Pran Pratishtha, we have to observe many daily ritualistic disciplines, depending upon which Swarup – manifestation of God. So we decided that we will do Prem-Pratishtha …. So that out of LOVE for God , Devotion to God, we will do whatever our Bhaav dictates. This was proposed by Vedas’ expert Sri Vishnubhai PushKarna, who is the Gor – Kind of Guru to Bhatia Families in Mumbai. He is the one who conducted all the rituals for Prem-Pratishtha.
We celebrate the Prem-Prathishtha anniversary in July since 2001. We assign one and a half hours for each deity, starting with Sri Ganesh followed Sri Hanumanji, NavGraha, Sri Ram Parivar, Ambemaa – Gayatri Maa, OM-Kar, Shivji - Someshwer Mahadev, and ShreeNathji - RadhaKrishna. Sponsors join us for the Pujan – Narration of the significance of that deity, Bhajan-Kirtan and Meditation. That is the Spiritual Progression in Bhakti YOGA, as per our Scriptures. This is the only day sponsors have the opportunity to go in Inner Sanctum, offering bath and New Garland. We also offer New Vastra.
SATSANG highly appreciates community priests, Jayantbhai Sane, Vidyutbhai Trivedi, Ranjanibahan Saigal, Sushilaben – Devkantbhai Joshi, Devchandbhai Patel, Niru –Sudhir Parikh and Sangeetaji Sanjaybhaia Saxena of New England Gayatri Parivar. Also we thank all the volunteers who offered their Selfless Seva – Service on that day, such as preparing Puja Thalies, preparing Prasad for Lunch time and Mahaa-Prasad for Dinner time. SATSANG also appreciate all the sponsors for their ongoing support to SATSANG thru events such as Patotsav. Here is the experience of Kajal Amar – SATSANG devotee:
I was at the temple from 8 am until about 9:30pm. I started the day by volunteering to help organize, arrange seats for the devotees etc. As the day progressed there was so much positive energy in the temple. It is not easy to express in words as it is the "feeling" of peace, positivity and blessings that I experienced that day. I also learnt a lot about the different rituals in our culture and the significance of each of the rituals. I am glad to have helped for the event!!
