which is often called “deva-bhaashaa†(देवà¤à¤¾à¤·à¤¾) or the language of the Gods, is a storehouse of Indian wisdom and knowledge
transmitted down over the centuries. The
great works in the Indian spiritual tradition such as the Ramayana, Mahabharata, Bhagavad Gita, Srimad Bhagavatham, Patanjali’s
Yoga Sutras, and the Vedas are in Sanskrit. Knowing Sanskrit allows you to study,
understand, interpret and appreciate these works yourself. Sanskrit is a
scientifically designed language - in fact “Samskrutamâ€, the Sanskrit
word for Sanskrit means “well-constructedâ€. The great Indian philosopher Sri Aurobindo says “Sanskrit language,
as has been universally recognized by those competent to form a judgement, is
one of the most magnificent, the most perfect, the most prominent and
wonderfully sufficient literary instrument developed by the human mind.†Jawaharlal Nehru,
the first Prime Minister of India, asserts in his “Discovery of
India†(video link) – “If I was asked, what is the greatest treasure
which India possesses, and what is her finest heritage, I would answer
unhesitatingly that it is the Sanskrit language and literature and all that it
contains.†SAMSKRITA BHARATI Samskrita Bharati USA is a non-profit volunteer driven organization working
to revive Sanskrit. Samskrita Bharati provides many immersive opportunities for
adults, youth and children living in the United States to acquire proficiency
in Sanskrit. Samskrita Bharati offers a course of study for youth called

United States to recognize the course for high school academic credit.
Samskrita Bharati also offers classes for adults, weekend camps, and yearly
residential camps, as well as a distance learning program. Samskrita Bharati publishes various books, CDs and videos relating to Sanskrit, and
also publishes “Sambhashana Sandesha†(संà¤à¤¾à¤·à¤£ संदेश:), a monthly magazine in
Sanskrit with a variety of content, written in a style that makes a lot of the
content comprehensible to even beginners in Sanskrit. Samskrita Bharati USA is
entering its 22nd year of existence, and is active and vibrant
in over 30 centers across the United States. You may also access this article through our web-site http://www.lokvani.com/ |
