Tamil is the oldest language in the world, known for its uniqueness in script and proud language of every single Tamilian. It is considered as a prestigious language. Such a prestigious language should have a Chair at a prestigious University, henceforth it is the Harvard University.
Harvard Tamil Chair is the First Sangam Professorship in Tamil Studies at Harvard University.Having a chair will help the language's legacy to survive and grow in the foreign land. It has become the responsibility for each and every Tamilian to save this ancient language.
Harvard University have already reviewed and accepted the proposal to institute a "Sangam Tamil Chair" in the Department of South Asian Studies with the primary focus on the studies of the Tamil Sangam Literature, in an effort to promote the significance of Tamil Language and share the rich literature with the enlightened minds and souls of the rest of the world.
Being all said, Tamil Associations and Cultural Organizations in and around New England Area take high pride in organizing an awareness fundraiser for the same. We are having a Walk-a-thon on May 27th, Saturday at Mine Falls Park, 7 Stadium Drive, Nashua, NH. Please come and join the Walk-a-thon, pledge for the fundraising and help to have the Tamil Chair at Harvard University.
Looking forward...
