Can you tell us a little about your background?

I  was born in Vrindavan. I have taken Dikhsha in the Nimbark Sampradaya. In addition I have a PhD in Philosophy from Agra University and I am a trained astrologer. I came to the US on a Priest Visa and I have been performing Hindu Services since then. I come from a family that is steeped in Nimbark Sampradaya.

What motivated you to start a temple?

As I started performing services, the devotees felt a great need to gather on a regular basis to learn the scriptures. They wanted a place to teach their children the secrets of our scriptures. There was not enough space in the homes and thus we thought it would be good to have a temple space. By God’s grace we secured this space in Norwood and thus we started this temple.

What is mission of Shri Hari Dham?

The goal of Shree Hari Dham temple is to promote an understanding of Hindu religion, to encourage the practice of Sanatan Dharma, to foster a lifestyle guided by Vaishnav teachings, and to be devoted to the ancient path of Hindu religion that existed even before the era of Lord Krishna. Sanatan Dharma, also known as the eternal path, is a spiritual destination for all humankind, and was founded by Acharya Shree Krishan Devuapayan Ved Vyas Ji Maharaj. It is believed that he was an incarnation of Lord Vishnu and a spiritual teacher of Hindu religion. His teachings guide us to the path of happiness, love, peace, harmony and non-violence. He has written many religious scriptures including Vedas, Bhagwat Puran, Mahabharat, and Srimad Bhagvad Gita.

Can you tell us a little about Nimbark Sampradaya ?

It is a very ancient tradition started by Nimbarkacharya. His philosophical position is known as Dvaitadvaita (duality and nonduality at the same time or dualistic non-dualism).  For Nimbarka the highest object of worship is Krishna and His consort Radha, attended by thousands of gopi's, or cowherdesses, of the celestial Vrindavan. Devotion according to Nimbarka, consists in prapatti, or self-surrender.

Is Shri Hari Dham dedicated to any particular Deva?

Radha Krishna are our central focus. However we have all other Devas and Devis including Lord Shiva, Hanuman ji  and Navagrahas.  The temple is open seven days and we will perform all special pujas.

Why should people go to temples and not just worship at home?

In a temple, the level of purity and sanctity is very high. It is an extremely clean place suitable for Sadhana. The priest performs all the rituals for the Prathishtith Murthy.  Thus the Divinity is present in a pure atmosphere. It is very difficult for us to have that purity at home. Temples are essential to create that space.

What message do you have for our readers?

I welcome everyone to visit the temple and gain from the positive atmosphere in the temple. It will certainly bring much joy to all. I pray that the blessings of Radha Krishna ji will be upon everyone.
