After several hit sold out shows such as Khandan-e-Kapoor, Badhshah-e-Romance and last year’s “A musical journey with Hrishikesh Mukherjeeâ€, Mohan Subramaniam and his team brought you another hit musical program on April 22nd 2017 -- "Awaaz-e–Jazbaat Shankar Jaikishan ke Saath". The audience was mesmerized throughout the show and spell bound by the beautiful singing along with beautiful visuals. Mohan Subramaniam was the architect of the program and also one of the singers. The other singers in the team were Sowmya Shri, Raghu Saranathan, Nidhi Tare Lad, and Hemant Patkar.
The opening welcome was done by Harish Dang who held the audience captive with the life stories of Shankar Jaikishan. The program was divided in to different Jazbaats as Shankar Jaikishan were masters in bringing out the emotions in the voices of the singers with their magnificent music and their grand orchestra.
The first segment was romantic masti followed by Judai or separation, followed by bekarari or longing, followed by Roothon ko manana and Mohabbat ka Karwan. The show started with a song from Sangam: O Mehbooba tere Dil ke Pass sung by Mohan Subramaniam. This was followed by a wonderful duet Hamre Gaam Koi Ayega by Sowmya Shri and Nidhi Tare Lad in their sweet synchronized voices, followed by Kaun hai jo Sapno mein aaya by Hemant Patkar in his resounding voice followed by Raghu Saranathan’s melodius Tumse Acha Kaun hai. The second segment was judai or heart break and this was introduced by Dr Manju Sheth who beautifully wove the story about the tragedies in the personal lives of Shankar Jaikishan themselves to set the mood right for the next segment. The segment started with a song from Teesri Kasam the movie that broke Shailendra’s heart but went on to win a national award. Mohan Subramaniam soulfully rendered Sajan wa Bairi ho gaye hamar from Teesri kasam. Nidhi continued the segment with the poignancy in Tera Jana Dil ke armano ka lut jana, followed by Mohan with a Mukesh song Teri yaad dil se bhulane chala hu, Sowmya Shri brought in the pathos with the next song Rasik balma. The segment ended with an age old classic which is dear to this day from Yehudi- Ye Mere Diwana pan hai by Mohan Subramanian that touched your heart.
There was a break during which people enjoyed dinner provided by Masala Art. After the break Meera Subramaniam talked about the 2 beneficiaries of the program that do tremendous work in our community Saheli and Indian Circle of caring. The magical musical journey continued with a medley from Barsat, the first film that Shankar Jaikishan scored music for, rendered beautifully by Sowmya Shri and Nidhi Tare Lad taking us all down the memory lane. The next segment of longing was introduced by Preetesh Shrivastava in the way only he can making people long for the songs. The songs of this segment were Ye Raat Bhigi Bhigi by Mohan Subramaniam and Sowmya Shri, Mujhko Aapne Gale laga lo by Raghu Saranathan and Nidhi Tare Lad and Aawaz deke Hume tum Bulao by Sowmya Shree and Mohan Subramaniam. This segment was followed by Roothon ko Manana and Preetesh Shrivastava led us into this segment with his special brand of standup humor that Bostonians love. The songs of this segment were Aji Rooth Kar ab kaha jayege by Sowmya Shri, a beautiful rendition O mere Shahekhuban by Ragu Saranathan and Meri mohabbat jawan rahegi by Mohan Subramaniam. The last segment of mohabbat ka karwan was introduced by Eshani Shah as she took people down the path of five classic beautiful duets that wove a love story. The show ended with a medley and the audience sang along with the group and gave the team a standing ovation.
