Today, we take equality for granted. It was not always the case. The principles of equality can be traced to at least 1000 years ago. Sri Ramanujacharya Swamy, a phenomenal philosopher, reformer, leader, and altruist, was born in India in AD 1017. Against all odds, He institutionalized the concept of “equality for all†- equality in opportunity and access to the Lord.
The New England Chapters of Jeeyar Education Trust (JET), VT Seva and Prajna cordially invite you, your family and friends to partake in the celebration of Equality on Sunday, December 18th between 3 and 8 PM. The free and open to all event will be held in Ashland High School. We invite you to learn about how Equality for all came into being through a cultural extravaganza followed by free Dinner.
Come and listen to Smt. Anuradha Palakurthi, our very own Nightingale of New England and two time Guinness World Record Holder Smn. Gazhal Srinivas as he enchants the audience in a variety of ways. Watch an awe-inspiring and heart warming dance ballet on Goda Kalyanam by scintillating dancer guru Smt. Sailaja Chaudhary and students of Sri Kuchipudi Natyalaya. And last but not the least – get mesmerized and energized by the sweet nectarine words from HH Sri Chinna Jeeyar SwamiJi – a world renowned philosopher, a compassionate care giver, upholder of the down-trodden, and a preserver of Sanatana Dharma. Recently, inspired by Swamijj, Prime Minister Modi even talked about the great contributions of Sri Ramanujacharya towards equality during his Independence day speech and how great leaders such as Gandhi and Ambedkar used Ramanuja as their model.
Often the new generation asks, what is in it for me to learn about our Heritage? Well, the experiential nature of our Heritage and our practices make it difficult to explain but becomes a continuous and natural learning process. For the things you have to learn before doing them, we learn by doing them. To promote awareness of Ra:ma:nuja commemorating His 1000th birthday in 2017 and to preserve our Heritage through knowledge and practice, JET USA is conducting a global quiz competition giving away exciting prizes three Tesla Model 3s to three different age groups (7-12, 13 – 18 and 19+).
