CMANA, Carnatic Music Association of North America, conducted its annual Great Composers’ Day (GCD) function on September 3rd, 2016. CMANA’s main goal is to serve as a cultural-bridge that promotes and propagates the learning, understanding, performing, and appreciation of the Carnatic Music and related fine arts in North America. The GCD event allows students to showcase their talents in vocal, instrumental and percussion music competitions. The winners were announced at the end of CMANA’s 40th Anniversary concert on September 25th, 2016 and Inesh was placed first in the Intermediate Plus category for Mridangam.
Inesh has been playing the Mridangam since the age of 6. He started learning under the guidance of Sri Mali Santhanakrishnan and was under his guidance for a period of 4 years. He is currently a student of Dr. Rohan Krishnamurthy. Inesh was also placed second at the Cleveland Thyagarajah Aradhana 2016 and was the winner of the musical talent competition, Newton Has Talent, 2016. Inesh is also plays Jazz piano and the clarinet. Inesh plays the Mridangam for a fusion band directed by Harshitha Krishnan of Berklee College of Music. He is looking forward to perform, with his band and in the Panchamukhi program for Bharathi Cala Mandram, directed by V.V.S Murari in Toronto.
