Coveted Literary Award to Alok Misra of New England
                                                                                                                  Alok Misra, a longtime resident of New England, was felicitated for his lifetime contribution towards Hindi language and literature at a state event in Lucknow on 14th September 2016. Misra was conferred with the coveted literary award by the UP Hindi Academy for promoting Hindi language internationally. The award carried a momento with citation and a shwal and a cash reward of Rs 100,000. The award was given on the occasion of Hindi Divas. September 14 is commemorated as Hindi Divas in India and abroad. On this day, in 1949, the Constituent Assembly had adopted Hindi as the official language for Republic of India.

The Hindi Academy has been honoring Hindi scholars, writers, and poets for the promotion, propagation and development of Hindi language for the past 35 years. The award is given every year.

Alok Misra is a computer scientist by profession, and lives in Salem, New Hampshire with his wife and two sons. He is also the Chairman of International Hindi Association, a premier institution of Indian culture and studies in the United States founded in 1980 to help preserve and foster the cultural heritage of India among Indians abroad.
