Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda’s Birth Centenary

On Sunday, May 8 Chinmaya Mission Boston (CMB) celebrated Swami Chinmayananda’s 100^th birthday with more than 700 people visiting the Andover Center!

The day started with Gurupaduka Puja led by CMB’s president, Dr. Gopala Dwarakanath. Chinmaya Swaranjali Boston and Metrowest Swarnajali teams presented Bhajans. A new CD album “Vande Sadguru”, presented by Chinmaya Swaranjali Boston was releasedby Dr. Dwarakanath to mark the occasion. Cultural programs from various Boston areas (Metrowest, Newton, Dover, NH and Andover) were the hallmark of the proceedings in the auditorium. That was spread over three sessions throughout the day.

Games, exhibits and craft making were some of the ways kids were reminded about Gurudev’s life and teachings. The whole Center was decked nicely and brought out a colorful ambience for the day! Another highlight of the day was on-site food preparation (poori/chole/dosa, breakfast and afternoon snacks) for hundreds of people that was appreciated by all.

Swami Tyagananda ji of Vedanta Society graced the event and addressed the crowd. He reminded them about Swami Vivekananda’s contribution to the society and how Swami Chinmayananda continued his work. It was a day marked by reverence to Swami Chinmayananda and his teachings. CMB put up a memorable celebration of Pujya’s Gurudev’s birth centenary!
