Celebrating ShivRatri:
Connect to the SEED, the Source of Inner Strength
A vibrantly colorful and uplifting ShivRatri program was hosted by the Brahma Kumaris of Boston/New England on Saturday, March 19th in Watertown. All enjoyed an evening of spirituality: song, drama, inspirational conversation, and meditation in an event called "Connect to the Seed: The Source of Inner Strength." Singer Gal Zeidman opened with a stunningly beautiful song about the "Hero" and strength you find inside your heart.
A magical Drama, "Heroes of the World Cycle," was performed by the youth group to the delight of all. Radhe and Krishna, Ram and Sita, Abraham, Buddha, Christ, Muhammad, Guru Nanak, each make personal appearances -- all together, on one stage -- to share their messages and pure feelings for the benefit of the world. Shiva descends to join them on the stage at the end, through Prajapita Brahma, to herald the return to the Golden Age . . . All the actors on the stage then return Home, and the Drama Cycle begins anew.
Following the youth performance, keynote speaker Shireen Chada, a yogi, scientist, and author of the book True Hollywood Blockbuster: The Making of Divine Heroes, was interviewed by Boston center co-coordinator Mr. Dev Lingadevaru. Miss Chada inspired all by sharing her experiences practicing spiritual meditation, emphasizing the tremendous benefit in developing a very real, personal relationship and connection with Shiva, the Benevolent Seed. "In coming to the Brahma Kumaris," she shared, "the experiences I had filled me to the point where I wasn't seeking anymore. I was no longer looking outside for what is next . . . The experience I had was that 'I belong to Him and He belongs to Me, His child.' There was a feeling of belonging, of being cherished, of being guided," she shared. "There is a deeper meaning to life than just the outer surface. As humans, we have a capacity for transcendence that is imperishable, a very elevating and high experience, the highest happiness that is possible. We are capable of doing more. There is a lot more to life than what we see with our physical eyes. The self-contained Seed, the Higher Power," she said, "is never influenced by our negativity, and is the seed of power, highest qualities, and virtues like love, peace, and purity. He is the Source, a real Being I can connect to as my Divine Parent. Because He is so pure, He only sees our beauty. He will always reciprocate your feelings. He feels that Yes, all souls belong to Me. If you take one step, the Supreme will give you a thousand fold in return. He is the Highest Being ever, the Ocean of Love, and the Ocean of Peace. He is like the Sun, always shining. I only have to experience Him."
All were then invited to connect to the Seed, the source of transcendental happiness and spiritual strength, in a meditation experience. The evening closed with sweets, blessings, a delicious vegetarian supper, and meaningful exchange.
