Press Release 03/20/2016 2016 MIT India Conference April 3rd 2016, MIT Media Lab,
Cambridge, MA “Startup India†Since
its inception as one of the largest university-wide India conferences in the
United States, the MIT India conference has drawn thousands of attendees,
including industry leaders and visionaries, academics, students, and
professionals to explore the economic, social, and technological developments
in India and engage in a productive dialogue about India’s unique challenges
and opportunities. The 2016 MIT India Conference will be a one-day
event to be held on Apr 3rd, 2016 at the award winning MIT Media Lab
at Cambridge, MA. The theme of this year’s conference is “Startup Indiaâ€,
inspired by the entrepreneurial fervor in the country. The conference will include keynote speeches, panel
discussions and a project showcase of India relevant research projects at MIT. Some
of the confirmed speakers at this year’s event include Arvind Subramanian
(Chief Economic Adviser to Govt. of India), Bazmi Husain (CTO of ABB), Gururaj
Deshpande (global tech entrepreneur and venture capitalist), Ashish Hemrajani
(co-founder of Bookmyshow) and Zenobia Moochhala (Co-founder, Care.com ). In
the past, the conference has hosted many other distinguished speakers including
Narayana Murthy, Shivshankar Menon, Nadir Godrej and Sanjay Kirloskar. Panel discussions and
keynotes speeches will be based on the broader theme of the conference and will
explore topics relevant to one of the fastest growing start-up ecosystems in
the world -- such as the challenges of early stage start-ups in India, how to
scale start-ups in India, opportunities in social entrepreneurship etc. The showcase will consist of various MIT projects
