While reading the article I was inspired by the mention of Ambadi leaves and how we use it in Andhra cooking. Here is a favorite recipe
Ambadi or gongura dal
Ingredients
1 cup ambadi leaves, chopped
1/2 cup chana Dal
3 flakes garlic, finely chopped
1/2 tsp ginger, grated
2 green chilies, chopped
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp turmeric
For Seasoning
1/2 tsp ghee or oil
1/2 tsp mustard, urad dal and cumin seeds
Few fenugreek seeds
1 dry red chilly
A few curry leaves
Method
Mix all the ingredients till well combined and pressure cook with a little quantity of water. Heat ghee or oil in a pan and fry the seasoning ingredients. Add the cooked dal mixture, mix the contents thoroughly and cook for a minute. Serve hot with rice or roti or chapatti .
