When the fashion wolrd meets the underworld, we get BOOM! Kaizad Gustad’s much talked about film stars Zeenat Aman, Amitabh Bachchan and the three famous ramp models Madhu Sapre, Padma Laxmi and Katrina Kaif.
The music for the film is composed by, among others, Talvin Singh, Sandeep Chowta, Panjabi MC,D´Caro and Jez Humble. The album is mixed bag of songs presented in varied genres. There’s nothing more exciting than opening such a box of surprises. Got to admit though that after a while the Techno Rock and Bhangra-rap/pop can get a wee bit tiresome.
In the title track Boom, Talvin Singh, who is more popular in the UK in the Asian Underground music scene pleases with his seamless blending of Trip Hop and Lounge party genre. The haunting title track is sung in her inimitable style by Ila Arun with unusual synthesized instrument beats adorning Ila’s unique voice. The track is featured again at the end of the album under the Dat Guy Remix.
Sandeep Chowta, the ‘happening’ young music director has a few surprises up his sleeve in this album. His Seduction Saavariya featuring Sunitha Parthasarthy and Sonu Kakkar is a hands down winner while the intriguingly titled instrumental tracks, Dope the Pope (with vocals by Sukhwindra and Sowmya Roah) and Two Dons and a Bitch are innovative. It's Safe (D'Caro) and Bhavani Dayani (Jez Humble) are loud and ideal for the dance floor.
Tavlin Singh’s Sufiana song Zindabaad about love is sung by fetchingly by Ravi Singh. Groove Almada’s I See You Baby with it’s interesting lyrics is already a smash hit and is getting plenty of play time internationally ! Besides the tabla/drums fusion will make the most sober of listeners go into full Bhangra mode.
The energetic 'Mundian tu bach ke' (by Panjabi MC), 'Nachna tere naal' (Jay Sean and Juggy D), and 'Punjabi' (Dum Dum) are all destined to become Bhangra favorites!
Sample this CD and you may be tempted to put on your dancing shoes and shake your thang on the dance floor!
