During his visit to America, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to NRIs to give back to India with not only investment, but also with knowledge, technology and experience. Top NRI experts from America met Prime Minister Modi to discuss with him large scale projects that has significant social importance.
Mr. Pramit Maakoday along with Kanchan Banerjee and Prem Bhandari met with the Hon’ble PM and discussed projects and initiatives to provide cost effective, efficient and quality health care for every citizen of India.
Mr. Maakoday, Director UnitedHealth Group, world’s largest healthcare company, Vice President of Computer Society of India, Mr. Banerjee, Chairman of New Global Indian and Convenor of Forum for Global Leadership of India, a networking and knowledge share platform of top scientists and technology experts and Mr. Bhandari, Chairman Jaipur Foot USA Inc. discussed with PM Modi a comprehensive plan to overhaul and transform India’s health care system following the mantra given by the Prime Minister of “Speed, Scale and Seva (service)â€. The key to this plan is integrative approach between traditional medical and modern medicine using innovative technology from around the world, Capacity building of research centers, skills development for AYUSH and modern medicine doctors, entrepreneurship in this sector and nationwide Telemedicine implementation. The Initial goal is to have one model Healthcare districts in every state of India and to have efficient Telemedicine centers in 100,000 villages within next 3 years.
They also discussed that the successful model to be created in India and that framework to be provided to other developing countries using technology leapfrogging.
Mr. Banerjee also updated about the Samarth Swabhiman, a mass entrepreneurship development and incubation project for the underprivileged section in India. This project has the potential to create thousands of Entrepreneurs in MSME sector and thousands of jobs will be created as a result.
They also presented the Prime Minister their work for 'Digital India’ in digital literacy to educate hundreds of thousands of women and handicapped people in India.
Mr. Modi appreciated these efforts and will be meeting the full team of experts involved in these projects in near future. The group is working with experts from top American institutes including Harvard, MIT and Stanford, many of whom are NRIs and experts in India who has deep knowledge of India’s healthcare system.
