Friends of Indian Senior Citizens Organization (FISCO), a Burlington based non-profit organization for the well being of seniors, celebrated an overnight tour of Connecticut and New Jersey area on June 6th and 7th, 2015.
The trip started from Burlington Council on Aging, 61 Center Street, Burlington, MA at 6:00 AM on a luxury coach of Coach Company of NH, The coach was fully equipped with audio/video system and accommodating 55 seniors. Their first stop started with Mangla Darshan at Vallabhdham Temple, Newton, Connecticut. After the darshan and breakfast of hot pakodas , tea, coffee, and milk, the senior citizens went to tour of Jain Center in Somerset, New Jersey where they enjoyed a pure vegetarian lunch. In the afternoon they went to Akshardham in Robbinsville New Jersey and BAPS Swaminarayan Temple in Edison, New Jersey where they had delicious dinner after sabha pravachan.
After a full day’s journey the seniors had a most resting night at “Edison Hotel†in Edison, New Jersey. On the second day, June 7th, the journey began at eight in the morning after breakfast, with a visit to Balaji Temple in Bridgewater New Jersey. Now the group was in relax mood and looking forward for fun activities so they stopped by at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut for lunch and some gambling before heading back to Burlington. Everybody had an great time enjoying two days of outing and getting to know each other and making new friends.
In addition, it celebrated its first picnic at Parlee Farms, Tyngsboro, MA. There were about 40 energetic seniors and few grandchildren who met at the farm at 9:00 in the morning on Saturday July 18, 2015. One of the attraction of the picnic was nice morning walk in the country setting of blueberry farm pick your own berries as you like. All seniors actively participated and enjoyed picking and eating berries right from the tree. It was unique experience and a healthy exercise in a beautiful natural environment.
After picking and eating berries seniors relaxed at the picnic area where everybody had delicious lunch provided by FISCO. After the lunch the group went to a tour of Anheuser-Busch Beer factory in Merrimack, NH. There was another adventure to see America’s showcase Clydesdales horses, a trademark logo of Anheuser-Busch. All the seniors had very good outdoor activities all day and final everybody headed home by 3:00 PM.
