New England Shirdi Sai Temple celebrates Shravana Somavaram and Shravana Shukravaram, which are believed to be most auspicious days in the month of Shravan.
Shravana Maasam which is the fifth month as per the Hindu calender is considered one of the most important and auspicious months for the Hindus. According to the hindu calendar, this year Shravana Maasam starts from August 15th (Saturday) and ends on September 12th' (Saturday). It is believed that lord shiva consumed hala hal in the month of shravana and hence the Shravana Monday is considered to be very auspicious and is dedicated to lord shiva.
As Shravana Nakshatra is believed to be the birth star of Lord Vishnu, this month is considered highly auspicious and Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi who is the wife of Lord Vishnu, is worshiped on the four Fridays of this auspicious month. Second Friday of the month is the most important as Varalakshmi Vratam is celebrated on this day when Goddess Lakshmi Devi is worshiped in the form of Besides these, the full moon day in this auspicious month is very important and is known by the names Sraavna Pournami or Janjaala Pournami as on this auspicious day, men who wear the holy thread perform Upakarma and wear a new thread.
As part of the celebrations , Shravana Somavaram pooja with Rudra abhishekam will be performed on all the Monday’s and the alankar to Lord shiva will be done With cooked rice on 1st Monday, Halwa on 2nd Monday, kesar halwa with dry fruits on 3rd Monday and fruits on 4th Monday. .
Maata pooja will be performed on all Friday’s in the order as 1st Friday Gauri Maata, on 2nd Friday Lakshmi Maata and Annapurna Maata and Saraswati Maata on 3rd and 4th Fridays will be worshipped, along with samuhik kumkumarchana on all Fridays.

All Mondays : Vishista Shiv Aradhana : 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
(Aug 17th, 24th, 31st Sep 7th)
All Fridays : Laxmi Pooja (Samuhik Kumkum Archana) : 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm
(Aug 21st, 28th, Sep 4th and 11th)
NESSP also plans on performing the historic Bhoomi pooja shankusthapana –laying the foundation stone on the auspicious day of Sravana Pournima to start the construction of permanent temple for our beloved sai. Samuhik homam with 108 homa kundas is going to be performed on the auspicious day followed by mahaprasadm.
