About the film:
Bhutan's international reputation precedes it as the Himalayan Kingdom or Gross National Happiness. However Bhutan's exiles will tell you a different story. One of cultural persecution, loss of a beloved home, a twenty-year wait in refugee camps and finally, a new chance in a new country. In the past five years, 75,000 Bhutanese refugees have resettled in America. This is the story of our new neighbors, The Refugees of Shangri La.
A panel discussion, moderated by Dr. Diana Eck, will follow the screening. Panelists will include the filmmaker and members of the Bhutanese community featured in the film.
