Indian Americans for Burlington (IAB) made history on July 4th by participating in Annual "Burlington Pride Parade" sponsored by American Legions.  This is the first time in the history of Burlington that Indian community has proudly paraded along the side of Burlington community in the streets of Burlington, holding IAB banner and dancing to Bollywood music.

The Burlington Pride Parade started at 335 Cambridge Street at 10: 45 AM and marched on the Cambridge Street and Winn Street to Memorial School covering a distance of about 2 miles.  Various different groups and organizations, including Saheli and IAB, came with their banners, floats, decorated vehicles, music bands and costumes to participate in the parade.    Over 60 Indian residents participated in the Parade wearing traditional Indian Outfits that added extra color to the parade.  Children, Young, and Adults; all danced to the tunes of Bollywood music and Garbha music that was being played by the DJ.

Ms. Rita Shah, a founding member of IAB, lead the efforts of IAB participation in the Burlington Pride Parade.  Neil Pandit, a Burlington High School students; who is also the designated IAB photographer, done a wonderful job of capturing the moments in his camera.  Many thanks to Rita and Neil for job well done.  And, of course, we thank all the participants for making this a success.

The next IAB event is a picnic.  Please contact Shashank Bakre (shashank_bakre@yahoo.com) for details regarding participation and volunteering opportunities.
