Nine Local Poets Are All Set To Mesmerize The Audience At Hindi Manch Sahitya Sammmelan

Hindi Manch who work all year round and promote Hindi, Urdu languages and related dialects through Music, theatre, cultural events and literary sittings. In December 2013 they successfully staged ‘Hindi Manch Sahitya Sammelan’ a Literary Sitting on a much larger scale and in a more structured and formal setting. Boston sub-urban area has always been known for its love for literature so the event was very well received by the community.
Hindi Manch bring back their annual ‘Hindi Manch Sahitya Sammelan’ which will be held at Thoreau School Auditorium, Concord on Sunday, April 12th 2015 . This Sammelan will stage renowned Poets, Writers, and Theatre personalities of New England area, along with Poems/couplets/Nazms/Gazals, it will feature two classic Hindi Plays “Sipahi Ki Maa†written by renowned writer Mohan Rakesh and ‘Meer Kallu Ki Gavahi’ written Anjum Manpuri. Another attraction of the evening will be two Songs highlighting the beauty of Hindi Literature, presented by renowned singer of New England area, Mohan Subramaniam and winners of Hindi Manch SaReGaMaPa 2014.
Lokvani is happy to share a brief intro of the 9 poets who are going to charm the Literature loving audience of Boston Suburban area, with their work on Hindi Manch Sahitya Sammelan.
Maarij Kirmani Mr. Maarij Kirmani has been working for the awareness of Hindi Urdu Literature for more than four decades in Boston Area. He was the Pioneer of Literary sittings or Mushairas who brought many famous Urdu Poets like Ahmad Faraz and Sardar Jeffery. He has been a respectable figure in Urdu Literature among the community in entire east coast, his poems on Mother and Daughter are very famous.
Subhash Chander Mr. Subhash Chander has been working as Assistant Principal in J.F. Deering Middle School, West Warwick, Rhode Island for the last fifteen years. Prior to migration to the US he worked as Professor of English at D. A. V. College Jalandhar for twenty years. He has been published in local Jalandhar newspapers and Providence Journal in Rhode Island. Mr. Chander served as President of India Museum and Heritage Society here and Secretary Rotary Club in Jalandhar, India. He has also been involved in the uplift of destitute women and children as Secretary of Kusum Trivedi Seva Sadan at Jalandhar.
Sunayana Kachroo Sunayana Kachroo is a Boston based Writer/Poet. Her first book of poems " Waqt Se Pare- Beyond Time" was published in 2013 and the book is in its 2nd print now. She was recognized among Top 20 women in New England area for her contribution to Poetry and Literature. Her nazm "Tu Zarra Hai" has been recited by renowned singer Sonu Nigam for a Hollywood based short film "In Search of America-Inshallah" - The short film has made it to the Cannes Short film corner Her next Venture "Pashmina-Kashmir Diaries" which is based on different stories from Kashmir is in Preproduction and will be shot in 2015.
Arsh Mehrorta Arsh doesn’t need any Introduction among south Asian community in New England area, Born in a Sikh family, she won the UNITED PRODUCERS AND FILMFARE TALENT CONTEST while still in her high school. She worked as an actress in three films, PHOOL AUR INSAAN, SARFAROSH UDDHAM SINGH and MANAVATA. After moving to Boston, Arsh started her television show AAP KA MANORANJAN which became a household name from 1993--2006.
Entertaining the South Asians in New England, was not just limited to television shows but also to screening Indian films and Live Concerts by top Stars from India like SRK, AMIR, AISHWARYA, URMILA, SONALI BENDRE, DALER MEHNDI, KARISHMA, SHAHID, KAREENA, SALMAN, JOHN ABRAHM, MALLIKA SHERAWAT, AMISHA PATEL, ASHA BHONSLE, ADNAN SAMI, SONU NIGAM etc. Presently, she continues to entertain South Asians by live concerts and screening world premiere Indian Films.
Amandeep Singh Engineer by profession and poet by heart, Amandeep Singh is from the land of five rivers, Punjab, India. He writes poems, short stories and articles in Punjabi and Hindi. He has published a book of short stories related to Science Fiction called “TutdayTarian di Dastaan†(Story of Shooting Stars). He also writes poems and short stories for kids. He likes to illustrate his poems with a sketch. His first poem was published in a magazine at age of 16, followed by Science Fiction short stories which was a new concept in Punjabi language. Editor of the magazine couldn't believe it! He is soon publishing his poems.
Maneesh Srivastava Maneesh is a young writer, who is active in various literary movements of Hindi Language in America from past few years . He is also a Playwright and a Theater artist, he has a keen interest in Indian classical music too. Maneesh comes from the family of writers, he believes that poetry is embedded in his genetic code. His Maternal and Paternal grandfathers were writers, his maternal grandfather wrote several plays, authored some Hindi poetry Books where his paternal grandfather used to write couplets in Urdu and Farsi. Encouraged by his father who believed that Maneesh inherited his love for literature from his Grand Parents, he started writing at a very young age. Maneesh volunteers with several non-profits in New England area and has been very active in various Literary Sittings, he currently lives in Chelmsford, MA with his wife and two sons. Shekhar Shastri Shekhar Shastri is a poet, musician and a filmmaker. He writes is Sanskrit, Hindi, Urdu, and English. He also lectures on Sanskrit Poetry and Aesthetics at MIT. He has produced a few films, one of which was nominated for a national award in India. He is a founder of Meru Education Foundation which brings innovative learning programs on the arts and culture of India. He produces 'Raaga-Rang', a music show at the confluence of Indian classical music and popular melodies. Manoj Mishra Manoj Mishra, originally from a small village in Chhattisgarh, and currently living in Boston/ Somerville area for past few years. He is a local activist in Somerville area, and has been working with several local organizations as well. He likes to write/recite poems in Hindi, his poetry is mainly focused on women's situation in society, farmers and Aadivasi's rights, and against capitalist development. He also likes to write about beauty of villages. Sanjay Kaul Sanjay Kaul is a Professor and Chair of Industrial Technology at Fitchburg State University in MA. A thinker and a Poet, Kaul describes himself as an artist and a wanderer who believes in to use his skills to foster peace, joy and laughter.
