Ekal Vidyala New England Chapter Launches IndiArt 2015
An art contest to benefit childhood education in India
With a successful launch of Ekal Vidyalaya’s Art Contest, ‘IndiArt’ in 2014, the team is holding the contest again this year. This year the theme of the contest is “Colors of Rural Indiaâ€. The theme resonates with the vibrant culture of rural India and the young artists should find it equally fun and challenging.
The IndiArt contest is open for local children ages 6 to 17, and includes three categories: sub-junior (6-10), junior (11-13), and senior (14-17). In each category, the first-place winner will receive a cash award of $200 while the second-place winner will receive $100. Additionally, all entries will receive a participation certificate.
All artwork will be put up for silent auction at the art show, which will be held on May 3. Submissions must be received by April 20. Talking about the contest event manager and volunteer of Ekal New England Jharna Madan said “ IndiArt is designed "to enable children from the New England area to use their art to make a difference in the lives of underprivileged children in India This year we are very fortunate of have prominent New England Artists that have come on board as IndiArt ambassadors. We are hopeful that this contest will be well received by the New England Community"
Participants can reach out to the IndiArt Ambassadors for any support needed for the contest. IndiArt ambassadors are: Dr. Java Joshi, Kala Kumar:, Mamta Mehra, Gopika Narula, Smitha Bharadwaj, Alyson Wood and Mridula Satyamurti. ". Additionally, they will also make exclusive paintings of their own which will be available for auction at the Ekal Art Exhibition and Awards Ceremony.
Net funds raised from the event will go to support Ekal Vidyalaya's schools in India.
