Meghana Kancharla (3rd Grader from Hills Garrison School - Hudson, NH) was the Runner-up in the Kasparov's Scholastic Chess championships - New York 2015 in the Primary section (U-1000) held last Saturday (1/10) at New York Marriott, Brooklyn, NY.

Primary U1000 section consisted of about 85 players who were mostly from NY and NJ area. Meghana (NH) along with 2 other participants from CT were the New England area participants in this section.

This event is organized by Kasparov Foundation each year in New York.

981 players from at least 199 schools participated in the 49th Greater NY Scholastic Chess Championships - 2015 across all the sections in this tournament.

Primary Under 1000 Section Results:

1st place: Dhruv Jhamb, NY (score: 5-0)

2nd place: Meghana Kancharla, NH (score: 4.5-0.5)

3rd place: Zhou Long, NY (score: 4.5-0.5)
