TiE-Boston Holds 15th Annual Gala

TiE-Boston held its 15th Annual Gala at the Lexington Heritage Museum, Lexington MA on December 3, 2014.
The gala featured nine TiE Challenge companies: GrestSure, LookBug, Senscio Systems, Shearwater International, Smarking, TocoBox, Tvision Insights, Whitenoise Labs and ZoneApps. The winners of the investor game were Senscio Systems, LookBug and TocoBox.
TiE presented awards to the five Charter Members who had successful exits during the year: Murali Aravamudan, Vevio; Rama Ramakrishnan, CQuotient;Purmamand Sarma, TARIS BioMedical; Amar Sawhney, Ocular Therapeutix and Niraj Shah, Wayfair. TiE also presents Outstanding Service award to Vanita Shastri, Outstanding Volunteer award to Pallavi Singh of Beacon IP, LLC and the Lifetime Achievement award to Ed Anderson of North Bridge.
Gaugarin Oliver, President, Tie-Boston, welcomed Anuradha Yadav as the new Executive Director of TiE-Boston and gave an overview of its activities. TiE Boston is the 2nd largest chapter in the US. There are a total of 28 chapters in North America and 61 chapters worldwide in 18 countries. TiE Boston Charter Members’ companies have raised over $7 Billion in disclosed exits in the last five years. In addition, TiE Angles has made 13 investments since 2011 and the TyE program, which is in its 10th year of operation, has raised over $50,000 towards its endowment fund.
The finale of the gala featured a fireside chat with Ed Anderson, Managing Partner, North Bridge, and Desh Deshpande. Ed Anderson noted TiE's value to the entrepreneurial community and to North Bridge. North Bridge backed 27 companies founded by TiE Charter members and 6 were unicorns.
